I was wondering if anyone had done the Clubman course at Mondello Park Racing School ? I was thinking about get a voucher for it for my beloved because I think he would enjoy it ?

If you have done it, did it seem like value for money ? Do you learn a lot ? How long is it ?

    thanks

    Jenny

I have done the pdc a few times (annual freebie as I marshal there for free). Anyway, I found it a bit of craic, partly because I knew everyone else doing it.
They bring you out in a rover 25 GTi and the instructor shows you the racing line. Then you take the wheel and they tell your where to turn, etc. Once you have done that you are out in a single seater Sheane Rover (same engine but limited to 4k revs IIRC).
You do learn how a racing car is driven (v. different to road car) and you learn about lines etc.
All in all it lasts about an hour or so and it is fun. However, as I said I didn't pay the for it (it costs €229) so I can't say whether it is value for money. It is a great experience tearing around the international section of the circuit (especially at full throttle driving downhill towards tarzan and ignoring their 'brake' signs :D ) and you feel buzzed after it.
Now that I think about it, go for it!

Did the course a few years ago and loved it, but it was all over very quickly. The saloon car stuff is good fun and the instructors were very good about teaching the techniques for the track (the surface was pretty poor when I did it - much better now apparently). The single seater part was over in a flash but was great fun as it started raining and the car was all over the place. I'd have to recommend it, but question its value for money!!

Thanks guys for all of your replies.

I was afraid that it would be over very quickly and it's a lot of money for about 1 hour. Rally school Ireland sounds good though - in terms of time anyway. Will investigate that.

Did anyone out there try that one ?

    thanks

I'm in the same position as you, only i'm on the recieving end of it all!
Parents are paying for me to go to mondello or Rally school, still trying to decide what to do. Both look like they are hell of a lot of fun.

I've done the rally school Ireland thing, and it is a lot of fun. The facilities, Instructors and cars themselves are all good quality. However, the prices seem to have gone up even more since I did it, and it was expensive then, so the value for money is debatable..
