    Little Britain DVD
    Release Date: 11th October

Cannot wait for this! Lots of good special features on the disc which i've listed below. Started watching 'Little Britain' long before it was ever on RTE - got into it when it was first shown on BBC.

Absolutely hilarious stuff. And this DVD is a must!!

Special Features in the 2 disc set:
    - Pilot Episode (don't know why this is included as a special feature )
    - Deleted scenes
    - Commentary with a 'guest' on each episode (should be classic!!)
    - Best of Rock Profiles
    - Behind the scenes documentary
    - Out-takes
    - Live appearance at the Royal Albert hall (extract)
    - BBC television conference
    - Video recording of the Radio 4 series

Because it was never shown... You're probably thinking of the first episode; that's the premiere episode, not the pilot. ;)

    Ahhhhhh right!

    Cheers for that!

Always just assumed the pilot episode meant the first episode of a TV series.

So just in general does that mean that a pilot episode is usually self contained and a show starts from stratch again with the first episode?

I wonder how good that'd be since the show is kind of fast paced...changing sets every 2 minutes could get a bit much :)

Usually a series continues where the pilot left off, but with a few minor tweaks depending on the reactions to the Pilot... Buffy's original pilot had a different Willow so they used the same plot again for the "premiere" Welcome to the Hellmouth, (which is, confusingly, generally referred to as the Pilot by Buffy Fans) but Roswell and the X Files used their pilots as their premieres...

Sorry for the Nerds' Eye View, but they were the best examples I had...

Yes, most shows film a pilot episode as a test episode. After that the show usually undergoes a few changes (theme music, stage lighting, actors, or whatever) and then the premiere episode is filmed. Although sometimes shows use the pilot episode as the premiere, but it's rare.

I'm sure the pilot probably doesn't have much in it that wasn't used in the series. I'm listening to the original radio series of Little Britain now and they recycled pretty much all the jokes into the TV series.

The Day Today DVD had a pilot episode on it as an extra feature too... but it was really just the first episode with poorer sets and graphics.

I'm waiting for the Big Train DVD release myself.. both seasons are being released in the one set... great stuff...
