modem for dialin ras services

    can anyone recommend a very reliable modem to use for ras dialin
    say using remote access services,

    or pc anywhere

    It depends on two things:

    1. What type of dial-in: PSTN or ISDN

    2. How many dial-in connections you are planning to support

    If you are just looking for a simple 1-to-1 PSTN dial-in point then any 3Com Modem will be fine. Usually quite reliable and well supported. But make sure that it's not a Winmodem one (as this uses CPU time and it not the best for server access)

    If you are looking at ISDN then Eicon provide better support.

    As for banked dial-in you could look at a dedicated solution like a 3Com or Cisco unit. But these will cost a pretty bit. A Windows solution with a special card could also be deployed.
