This is the most suitable forum I could find to post this in, Mods please move if there is a more suitable location.

I have a large collection of burned CDs that I am starting to get worried about. I have heard that even a small amount of dampness can cause CDs to deteriorate. I keep all my CDs in cases that hold about 160 CDs each, and they do a pretty good job of keeping the CDs dust free, however I am looking for a dessicant that I could put in each CD case to absorb any dampness. I am thinking of those packets of small crystals or stones that come in some packaging :dunno: can anybody suggest where I could find/buy something suitable....

It's called silica gel and can be bought from good flowershops. It's used to help make dried flowers. I have no idea how I know this.

Admit it - you are either buying the girlfriend too many flowers or you harbour a secret desire to make a living from flower arranging. :D

If you can get it, get some indicator gel not just plain silica gel. The indicator gel will show when it has reached saturation/end of useful life. Used to be able to get it in packing in engineering industry. I don't have it any more but somebody out there has kilo packs of it I'm sure.

The gel can be reused again if you dry it out. The indicator stuff is handy because you know when it's ready.

I really am at a loss as to how I know all this crap.
