Thats a really great article I hadn't read much up now about GTA:San Andreas, but that 10 page article has really got me looking forward to the game now.

interesting, nice to see some new screenshots, especially of the countryside bits. Cheers for that.

I don't think I could bring myself to buy the PS2 version when it comes out when I absolutely KNOW i'll be buying it when it eventually makes its way to the PC.

I'm getting a dead link for that. Anyone able to stick it elsewhere?

The Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas soundtrack has been outed, and it’s filled with classics. The last game’s music was a stroke of genius; pumping new life into old tunes, and giving the game a special touch that made it sell even better. But the next CD will be a cornucopia of great songs that puts most movie soundtracks to shame. How the hell do these guys secure the rights to all these songs?

    Here’s the full list. Wow:

    Salt’n’Pepa - Push it
Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby
    Inner Circle - Bad Boys
    KLF - 3am Eternal
    Massive Attack - Unfinished Sympathy
Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
Jane’s Addiction - Been Caught Stealing
Poison - Every Rose Has It’s Thorn
    Guns’n’Roses - Sweet Child O’ Mine
    Smashing Pumpkins - Today
NWA - **** Tha Police / 100 Miles And Runnnin’
Snoop Doggy Dogg - Gin N’Juice / Ain’t No Fun
    Warren G - Regulate
    Fugees - Killing Me Softly
    Coolio - Gangsta’s Paradise
Public Enemy - Rebel Without A Pause
The Stone Roses - Fools Gold
    Happy Mondays - Step On
The Verve - Bitter Sweet Symphony
    Radiohead - Creep

    thnaks ste for linkage.

OMG OMG oMG OMG ice Ice baby

I wonder if you can properly blow up a petrol tanker? :)

that could be fun, instigating a huge highway pile up with one of those!

The ability to go into the country and off road looks very interesting ... i wonder how they are going to deal with draw distance when you are up the mountain?

One thing for certain ... this game go'a be big!

Looks perfect - when will it come out on a real platform (PC)? A year after the PS2? So I'm going to wait for nearly 2 years before I finally play this, hopefully by then It wont have lost its shine:dunno:

I think it was about May when Vice City and GTA3 came out on PC, after coming out in November(?) on PS2.
Will probably be the same again.

That's only 22 songs. If it goes like the last two games there'll be at least 5 or 6 music stations (and probably a couple of talk ones). 22 songs wont fill 6 stations.

Have you got a link to where you got the track list from?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,918 ✭✭✭Deadwing

Bitter sweet symphony was 97, gangstas paradise was 94, for a game set in 1990-92 or so i cant see those songs being in it tbh.

The above list is only a rumour at the moment unfortunately. The only thing rockstar said is that they'res gonna be more music than vice city and that they'res deffo gonna be a country music station.
Dan Houser(main man in charge): “California has got the best radio of anywhere in America. There’s going to be a big, big range of music in this one.”

It has to be handed to Rockstar considering the enormity of this game. I thought Vice City was leaps and bounds ahead of anything remotely similar in style, reading about this however, is mind numbing.

Country? Reminds me of the Rednecks from GTA 2. I wonder if they'll be making a re-appearance? There were soooo many good redneck-related jokes in that game...

...And you know, that was so good, i reckon ill play it again!

Yeah SA looks incredible! Can't wait to get it. I wonder how the load times will be?

Does anyone think the GTA after it should incorporate retro aspects from GTA and GTA 2? Such as characters, missions, music, cars?

"real" platform? I think it's testament to Rockstar that this series are a success purely on the gameplay which does get better .... and that in 2004 there is at least one game that will be gameplay orienatted and not "6 qudrillion rectangle per second up your 4 tetradinko ass" type crap. Yes the graphics have got better over the years but PS2 can obviously "compete" on pure gameplay terms with XBox and PC.....
    ;)

The "soundtrack" listed above was purely a 90s music wish-list for the game compiled by C&VG staff, and is nothing to do with Rockstar.

Having said that, 'Regulate' better be on there, or caps will be busted in asses.

dead on Trips. I'll only abandon my Ps2 when i feel that the games are clearly better on another platform. The GTA and Pro Ev series are my favourites so i aint goin anywhere soon...

    more news trickling through:
The September issue of GMR Magazine has a new nine page article on San Andreas with five pages about San Andreas, a two page interview with Sam Houser, and a two page retrospective of the previous GTA games. You can buy this magazine from EB games.

    1. Here the names of some other small towns in San Andreas: Shady Creeks, Flint County, Whetstone, Fern Ridge, and Red County.

    2. Each major city will have it's own airport where you will be able to steal a Dodo and fly around the state.

    3. You'll be able to pick up hitchhikers.

    4. You'll have a tow truck that will tow cars.

    5. You will be able to choose your own camera angle with the right analog stick.

    6. You can find a wide array of outfits in shops around the state.

-- On sitting down in Reece's barber shop, players can scroll through a list of haircuts, previewing each one. Some cost up to $500 to apply to the character.
-- The map is 'America Shaped', and Los Santos is less than a quarter of it, in the bottom right corner.
-- Streets will glow orange due to the harsh sunlight.
-- During a four-person driveby, each character can have an independent target, and a car health meter is displayed on screen to show the damage which has been inflicted on the car.
-- Achievements made during a mission will affect what leisure options are available to CJ.
