I had the engineer put in the phone line when he was doing the install and it certainly wasn't easy.. as Televisions tend to be in the living room, and telephones tend to be in the hall... so it was very long run of cable and alot of furtniture needed to be moved to drop the cable in beind it.

But after about a month or so I yanked it out and used it the line for something else.

And haven't had any problems with service.

Yeah. I'm pretty happy with it.

Although it might not completely blow you away when you first use it...

I'd find it very hard to live without it now.

I've found RTÉ to be a problem, as they don't stick to thier schedules very well, I tried to record the 5th Element last week and ended up with the last 3 minutes of Friends instead. Also, the fact that RTÉ break up the movies with the news sometimes causes problems.

A larger hard drive would be nice too.. as you can fill it up pretty fast as well, especially when my nephew gets his hands on it and records 8 hours of Sonic the Hedgehog... bleh...

One other thing, it would be good if more stations used the Series-Link feature on their programmes. This lets you press a button and Sky+ will automatically record every episode in the series. As I find remembering to set it to record a programme, is just as hard to do as remembering to watch a programme.

But still, being able to pause anything while you pop off to the kitchen for a snack is great. And also the movie channels have 5.1 surround sound on some films.

You definitly have to keep the phone line plugged in. We got a letter from sky stating they were going to charge us about €250 because we broke our contract by plugging out the sky+ connection to the phone line

oh, in that case can't you just say the cable had a break in it somewhere, and you didn't notice? I know mine has to go through a door way and it gets a bit crushed everytime the door is opened.

I got sky plus last night and with out a shadow of a doubt its the best thing ever. What an awesome piece of technology, everything about it just screams quality imho. I pulled out the telephone wire last night but after what center15 said I better plug it back in, after all i suppose its no harm. But last night i recorded The Simpsons and watched this morning with my breakfast. On that note i'll say this is revolutionary piece of technology.

    Viva SKY PLUS Viva

There was a new software update as well yesterday allows you do organise your personal planner and there's a disk defrag option now. press services 4 0 1 select and it's in there. It's called rebuild personal planner. If you dont have the software yet, plug out your box hold backup on the box and plug it back in. Although this will erase EVERYTHING.

I got our old standard box moved to another room when we got sky+ installed, I cant remember how much it cost. I'm not using the other box at all really so I dont think its worth it. With sky+ plus all your shows are waiting for you anytime you want to watch them.

Did the installer try to keep your old box?

When the guy had finished with me he said 'I'll just take this off your hands'

I still have it here... I Didn't bother going with putting it in another room. I use a wireless video sender, which works out okay, but you can only watch what is being watched in the main room.

No I still have the first digibox, the reason why I would get it eventually would be because my parents dont get to watch what they want and that irratates them so thats why we might get it connected.

I might do it if they dropped the price of the second box... ha.. not as if that is going to happen.

What is the cost? €16.99? On top of your monthly subscription, that's a bit too much.

They did drop the price. It was previously €20 per month for the mirror subscription - it now is €15 per month.
