Motorola Sues Spammer

Cell phone manufacturer Motorola has sued Digital Wireless Technologies, after the company sent out a massive spam email promising a Motorola pager, although the product they deliver is actually manufactured by Glenayre Technologies.
The offered pager, given to customers who signed up with Digital Wireless Technologies' paging service, has far inferior features than the promised Motorola product.
Motorola became aware of the product when angry consumers who received the email began to complain. The lawsuit "reflects our desire to protect the value of the Motorola brand," says a Motorola vice president.
