Does any one know how to flash the Sony DW-U14A dvd writer to the Sony DWU18A? I would like to flash my existing 4speed SONY DWU18A dvd writer to a 8speed dvd writer!!!

The 14a and 18a drives are totally different mechanically, so changing one to the other isn't going to happen.

ChipZilla do you know any way that I can bring my existing DVD writer from 4speed up to 8speed?

You need to convert the DW-U18A to a DRU-530A first. Once that's done you can then stick on the 8x firmware for the 530A.

Chipzilla, you gave this reply earlier on today (You need to convert the DW-U18A to a DRU-530A first. Once that's done you can then stick on the 8x firmware for the 530A.) I just want to clarify do you mean to flash my DVD writer to the DW-U18A first then flash it to the DRU-530A? im not sure if this is what you meant or not
