yeah its comming out on both dvd and cd versions, so i guess the end of 4 disc sets might be at hand for the moment...until they make games larger than 8/9gigs i spose...................

hrmmmm well hopefully i should be able to run it at everything but its 'ultra high' setting.....
have a 6800ultra on order, tho u need a 512meg gfx card and at least 2gigs of ram for the ultra so they say...

To use the ultra settings, you need a 512mb grahics card! Thats insane, at least this game will still suprise us in a year or 2 time. I can see this engine being used for games for a long time to come.

Thats a 1.5, 2.4 P4 which means AMD users have a little more leeway with a lower clock speed. Im sure that will please some.

I should get near ultra settings on this machine but it seems my 128mb gfx card is gonna feel the pain. /me shakes fist at 9700pro

theyre quite old benchmarks, may 2003 so i wouldnt pay too much attention to them. To get ultra youll need a 512mb card!

Iv ordered mine from play.com just now as i understand it play.com sends out the preordered games a bit before the released data so you get it before or around the general release data is that true ?

Sometimes, depends really on when they get their stock.
But yeah, they'll usually try and get it to you on the release date.
Obviously massive demand will slow things down, and I think they give preference to those who preordered first.

August 2nd is a bank holiday, so the chances are it will end up being the 3rd. Admittedly, Friday is normally the release date, but in the case of some major releases, vendors are asked to hold the item back until Monday while it is actually delivered on the Friday. The chances are, you'll be able to get it the same day as the UK retailers.

I find it hard to beluieve that you need atleast a Rad 9700 to get decent performance from your machine. When the GF3's came out did MrCarmac not say that it would work no problem on it?

you can get 20 fps from a 9000 though so you should get nice proformance out of the 9600pro and 9700pro possible even the 9200

Amp I have the same spec as you but I upgraded from the ti4200 to an ATI 9800pro and it made a huge difference, no problems running Far Cry now, although its not a good game
