An old Dell XPS B tried to boot off a flash upgrade disk for a laptop - and next thing you know BIOS was erased and reprogrammed - no warnings / nothing (would make a great virus)

For some strange reason the Desktop doesn't want to boot anymore since it has an indentity crisis - nothing on screen no post - does a seek test on the floppy and that's about it.

Any one know anyway of unflashing ?
Have tried a DELL bios boot disk
(with the BIOS jumper on both positions)

Basically, there is no way to recover from a flash except to reflash to an older version, or in your case, a working version...

Does the machine still POST ok? Where abouts does it refuse to continue?

Welcome to the land of ****ed bios.... I have had a similar prob on two mobos in the past month. If it still seeks for the floppy theres a chance u could re-flash it. Mine r totally dead. Check the dell website for more info.

If there is a DELL BIOS floppy it crunches on Reflash Floppy for about 25 seconds - then makes low pitched buzzing beeps from speaker after that. If I reboot without floppy gives one normal beep and looks for floppy and then reboots again. Num Lock works a few times but caps lock and scroll lock don't
