    hello all,

i've done some freelance web design for friends & small business. before yous go "oh no not another geezer trying to advertise cheap web design", please note i ain't, altho i can see how this thread could be interpreted that way.

basically i've done a number of smallish sites over the past couple of years and have only ever had feedback on the design/content from non web design heads (which is certainly not going to give a true representation of the quality of the site). i'm considering doing a multimedia technology masters in the coming months and maybe i'm just looking for some design folks to say you're crap or you've got potential..

i know there are some serious designers who read this board and would appreciate any feedback on any/all of the following sites which i have completed most recently:

    http://www.cormacbreatnach.com
    http://www.thegalwaysky.com (personal site)
    http://www.rathrowan.com
    http://www.eoghanburke.com

the last site listed is hosted for free with brinkster so there may be a pop-up.

many thanks in advance for any feedback offered.

    slán,
    jAH

    hey,

    looking at http://www.cormacbreatnach.com/

Is that pi running down the columns? How weird. :)

I like this site, just one thing I don't like is the blank white space at the bottom - could that not be changed to the same colour as the left/right columns. Would look prettier imo. viewing in firefox .9 on windows btw.

test http://www.rathrowan.com/ in firefox - very hard to read the text as the bg doesn't stretch.

I can't see anything scrolling and the text is too small in firefox

thanx for the tips, cross browser design was not a priority at the time as money on the project was tight so targetted IE. this is prolly one of thecardinal sins of a designer so will make sure i design for firefox/mozilla plus IE in future.

yep, was taken by the movie "pi" around the time i did that site, and used the golden rectangle in the proportions of the panel (with golden spiral running thru the corners). in the other column is the golden ratio. don't ask... did that pi text actually show up in your browser as it should be hidden text with same colour as background ?

cheers again and will appreciate any further feedback.
