    Been there, done that. I do NOT recommend you burn media at 8x for everything unless you test one and WAIT for a few days to see if it's still readable.

    I wrongly assumed that just because the firmware let me burn at 8x it was tested and safe to do so. How wrong i was. luckily all i was burning was video, so its still watchable, except in about a dozen places on each disc.

    Put simply: BE CAREFUL ABOUT OVERBURNING LIKE THAT!

    For firmwares i think the site is www.herrie.org .... just google for "herrie"
