Ok, say you have the chance to make up a supergroup of your own... who would you pick??

Lets say you have to follow these rules:
You cannot have more than 5 members
You cannot have any more than 2 members from the same band.
    All members must be alive.
You should have these three basics: drums, bass, guitar... anything else is up to you (and if you can think of a decent replacement for any of those 3, cool!)

Heres one of mine, although I can think of many more set-ups:
    Bass - Flea (RHCP)
Drums - Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters)
    Vocals/Guitar - Chris Cornell (Audioslave)
Lead Guitar - Mike McCready (Pearl Jam)
    Piano/Keyboard/Backing Vocals - Tom Waits

    Hmmm...it's a toughie!

I'd definitely go for Flea on Bass (no contest really)
Burton C. Bell from Fear Factory on Vocals for his incredible vocal range
Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater on Drums just to look at his kit and drool
Tom Morello from Audioslave / RATM on guitars for his messed up solos
And Johnny Na$hinal from Electric Six on guitars as well, for some flava!

    #oops. off topic - apologies#

My ultimate band already exists, they just won't release the god-damn album / collaboration - Tapeworm. Pick two of Trent Reznor / Charlie Clouser / Danny Lohner - with guests over the years rumoured to include Phil Anselmo, Maynard Keenan, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson and a few others (Zach de la Rocha was in the rumourmill at some point). Course it'll never be released - I think its 8 years since Trent first announced it.

    Wouldn't really be a metal band but;

Vocals - Elvis (if he was alive)
Bass - Rhonda Smith from the NPG.
    Guitar - Slash
Drums - Dave Abruzesse or John Bonham

Now THAT would be a very interesting band. Although some members are dead!

hostyle, I would love to hear that too, but as far as i know, reznor has pulled out, saying it wasnt going the way he wanted it to go.

however, he also said he would still love to work with Maynard in the future, so there is hope for something similar to tapeworm, but given that Reznor is a busy bee, and so is Maynard, it could be a long time.

Well there's some amazing 'Perfect' or 'Ultimate' bands that already exist, where the members perfectly complement each other.

But for fun, lets just say...

    Vocals - Bjork
    Guitars - Mikael Akerfeldt
    Bass - Martin Mendez
    Drums - Richard Christy
    Piano - Stienar Sverd Jonsen

    Could be cool.

    Guitar/Vocals - Michael Gira (Swans/Angels of Light)
Guitar - Blixa Bargeld (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds/Einstuerzende Neubauten)
Viola - John Cale (Velvet Underground)
Drums - the guy from Neurosis who's name escapes me now
    Bass - Myself.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 198 ✭✭Axe

Vox - Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden)
    Guitar - Angus Young (AC/DC)
Guitar - Slash (Guns 'n' Roses)
Bass - Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
Drums - Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden)

I am taking a chance with slash and angus in the one band, but I like to think that they would be able to work something out. Also, I hit a snag with the bassist: i consider steve harris a better bassist than flea, but with bruce dickinson and nicko mcbrain in the band, i couldn't have a third member of iron maiden. However, flea is almost as good, so we'll let it slide.

Vocals: Tough....... Chuck Billy or Bjorn Strid of Soilwork

PS. Alexi is still in COB. Don't know where ex-COB came from. Sinergy is a side project.
