Worst show ever produced by Sky?

The recent advertising for Celebrity Penthouse had me thinking: what is the worst show produced by Sky One, a channel with a proud history of absolutely awful self-produced programming?

I haven't seen Celebrity Penthouse, but I've seen the ad with Julie Goodyear. That was enough for me.

While Mile High and Harry were both awful, they had some pretty memorable nudity. Ditto Ibiza Uncovered.

There's Something About Miriam is probably the worst thing ever screened on television. The audience, the contestants, Miriam itself - none of them had any dignity at the end of this disgusting series. All were exploited.

    Shame on Sky.

The worst show is: 49 votes

    There's Something about Miriam
    2% 1 vote
    Ibiza/Greece/Caribbean Uncovered
    20% 10 votes
    Mile High
    46% 23 votes
    Is Harry On The Boat?
    16% 8 votes
    Celebrity Penthouse
    14% 7 votes

    shocking tv

Tough choice, but I want to actually vote for Kirsty's Home Videos.

This poll is way to narrow. Some of those are probably the better ones they've out out!

Kirstys is terrible! It always seems to be on as well :(

I am trying to think of a sky made show that I actually liked...

How gay are you, celebrity penthouse, commentators behind the mic, the villa, mile high, is harry on the boat?, when <enter subject> goes wrong (theyre not all sky made), worlds worst..., kirstys home videos, bras unpadded, the Uncovered Series, British Sex, American Sex, Hanky Panky, something about miriam, that one about the strip club.... all shíte.

They're just lucky they have Fox to prop them up with the odd decent show like Family Guy, The Simpsons, Futurama, Malcom in The Middle etc, otherwise they'd be dead in the water.... except for the population of lads all the above shows appeal to

    Flogen

Sky one are just a smidge above Live TV! in terms of the quality of programming they output. It's just utter, utter drivel. I can imagine their target audience for their home made stuff...scobie knackers in their shell suits with dutch gold in one hand and the Sunday Sport in the other.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,473 ✭✭✭✭Our man in Havana

Can you actually buy "Ducth Gold"? I have never come across such a beverage!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,507 ✭✭✭DamienH

Of course you can buy dutch gold. It's one of the most delicious beers there is :) But you seriously can buy it. Here in Cork you need only to look in any park to see the remnants of some scobes " gatting " session. And yes all of those sky 1 shows are pure bollix

Live TV's programming policy consists of the following rules:

    1) Boobs

    2) See 1

    ...which frankly isn't that bad.

Come to think of it, there's so much rubbish on Sky that I should have added to the poll. Another show I forgot about was Guilty! Anyone remember that?

    It was pure crap...

it was like one of those stories at the end of the news..
(you know like "and on a lighter note, heres a transexual")

but strecthed out for a whole series!!!!

    off topic:
I wonder if people in the television industry have new words for reality shows
    like:
"thats a good idea for a show, lets realitise it!"
"theres definitely not enough of a realafication there!"

The only thng good on Sky One (that I watch on a different channel) is 24! Other than that, they're getting our money every month for Sky Digital and they still can't make one decent program themselves on Sky One.

Oh, don't forget The Simpsons:CLASSIC TV AT IT'S BEST(Altough 7 days a week gets too much)

sky one really would produce anything at all. what really baffles me, is what kind of people watch this kind of car crash television.
i voted for celebrity penthouse, saw five minutes of it and wanted to rip out my eyes and place them in a jar of acid.

    How Gay Are You?

They should make a show called How Black Are You?
    I'm sure that wouldn't offend.

Every thing but star trek and stargate sg1 is total total ****e

but god bless sky for showing star trek and stargate tbh

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

I went with Celebrity Penthouse as I feel the programming is getting progressively worse..

although now Men in Frocks is showing.. I don't know what to think...

Rember the attempt they made at a soap opera? The name escapes me... but I remember it had a jealous mistress in it that turned out to be a ghost or something...

oh.. and lets not forget Gamezville, my friend (as they say at the end of every god-damned sentence!)

It's so hard to pic just one bad program from Sky.

    Who voted for Mile High?

    The first series was Class!

Btw i voted for those damm uncovered series

The worst show that Sky has every made has to be

    Dream Team

  • Moderators, Business & Finance Moderators Posts: 3,816 Mod ✭✭✭✭LFCFan

The only watchable stuff on Sky is the American imports. I have to admit to watching Harry, Mile High and Dream Team but more out of some sort of morbid curiosity after watching the earlier, better series'.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 55 ✭✭munster rucker

While flicking through the channels last night, i saw another one of their diabolical shows - Fight School - Total and utter drivel

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

Don't forget about Hard Bastards... or was it Hard B*stards?

Lots of entertainment value to be had in watching English skin heads hold thier breath underwater for long periods of time....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 697 ✭✭✭Zoton

Most of what they show is pure drivel not just the self produced shows. Fear factor anyone? Unbearable!

All those uncovered shows are probably the worst offences though. There was one ray of light last year though with Brainiac. 'Twas for most part pretty enjoyable, except for the John Tickle twat, wherever they found him.

Big Brother! He's a muppet! It actually pains me to know that he was in Big Brother but when you live with someone who always watches that crap you end up knowing stuff you'd rather not

    yes.

Mile High is good the rest are crap, but I think Mile high is one of there best produced shows and the sales for the show overseas proves this.

'TV's top 30 ugly celebs' (or whatever it was called?) was pretty trashy too.

To this day scenes from RTE produced 'News Hounds' still float in my memory. Typical of our friends in D4 to nick more stuff from British telly only remove the comedy, remove the quality acting and remove any kind of heart(I think they tried to rip off 'Drop the Dead Donkey'). Really, really awful stuff with a few heads from 'The Irish RM'

I liked that show, from a martial artist's point of view. It could have been done a lot better, but at least it showed a bit of realism to martial arts, rather than people jumping around running up walls and crap.

All of their sensationalised David Beckham/Victoria Beckham "documentaries". Painful to watch.

    - I was going to complain - but since Life TV don't seem to be showing The Littlest Hobo anymore I suppose Sky can get away with that one (esp since I misread the channel)

NOTE: Both LIFE 130 and L!VE 214 are free to air - no sub needed.

As for RTE doing something like Drop the dead donkey - if only they'd allow good comedy/sailing close to the wind like Hall's Pictoral Weekly / Scrap Saturday the'd be on to a winner - and as for the liable laws - as Dara said I love Liam - you can say ANYTHING about him..

Just about everything on it is crap, Caught in the Act 27 and Scariest Police Chases Ever 61 and all that stuff you get bored of after watching it once, they are after flogging Star Trek to death at this stage, its been on at 5 o'clock 5 days a week for as long as I can remember

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 383 ✭✭Nemici

I think I might just tune Sky off the TV,

reading this thread makes me sick.

Every show takes about 8 quid to produce and the only way you can watch is with a heavy dose of Horse tranquiliser on board.

And another thing, these shows where they get B list C list celebs to comment on stuff in between clips of jodie marsh or jordan in some sort of liason with a member of a boy band - WHO THE HELL THOUGHT THIS UP,

i mean surely we could have something of quality from a company with 60 billion in the bank ??

(deep breath and take two horse pills with a glass of water)
