    yeah, what cheese-dude said.

Some people are committed to collecting comics like this, and if you have enough money for it, this would be a wet-dream. I'm not a comic book fan, but this looks like a pretty sweet collection to me.. loads of first editions of stuff like spiderman, superman, batman. They're all worth a fair amount on their own.

to me, 1/4 of a million is a rediculous amount of money for alot of things (unless its a house), but to some, I'm sure its a bargain.

Sorry Reddy but you're way off the mark here. This is actually the best way to invest your money! He's right on the price tag - for that colletion if they were all in mint condition would be worth somewhere around the region of about 5 million!!

And these aren't just for fans. Comics of this age are like printing your own money. Buy them cheap, keep them a few years, and sell them on. Like trading stock - only, unless they get damaged or they were **** to begin with, they'll go up and up in price. They rarely devalue over time. Recently there was an issue of spiderman that came out specifically for the world trade centre attack. Within about a month it had shot up from about $5 to around $50 if I remember correctly. I think I saw it selling on ebay for about $500, but then I think that was initial hype and people thinking they wouldn't get a copy.

If I had the cash i'd definately bid on that collection.

<EDIT> Just read through the full collection and not just the list of #1's. If what he is selling there is the real thing, then forget what I said about $5mil, you're actually talking more in the range of about $100mil. Either it's fake or this stuff is stolen :( </EDIT>

god.. if I had those I'd only end up doing something silly.. like reading them!?!

Actually, come to think of it, I've got an extensive "Buster" and "Beano" collection that might net me a few €€€

If they're worth so much why is he selling them for $250,000. Any we should have put all our money together and taken out as many loans as possiblt, bought them, then soold them again. Everyyone could have quadroupled their money.

If you want to see people REALLY wasting their money you should see people play Counter-Strike for 5 years and run up a massive phone bill for absolutely no return whatsoever! .

best to ask in one of the comic book stores littered around Temple Bar, darko, or Forbidden Planet, most people who work there have a love for comics (they dont seem to hire just anyone, you have to know your stuff, or else you learn quick enough). While I doubt the people in the shops could price it for you, they should know a place that does.

I'm kinda of small comic fan (ghost in the shell, Sin city, and others cant rember) and I kinda understand the idea of buying something small like a comic for that price but Fs its nuts. its $250,000.00!

    just way to much!

i totally agree iceman... im not doubting the fact that if you have an interest in something you should persue it.. What i am saying is that that is extortion in a way. You could buy it cheeper somewhere else.

As far as an investmant goes... uummmm no. If you invest in something its usually something solid like property - not a comic.

The only way that would hold any value would be if we were in that movie 'water world'
