The SAPPHIRE RADEON 9800SE ATLANTIS makes short work of today's most demanding multimedia and gaming applications but absent is the sharp crushing pain in your chest that is often induced by the sight of SAPPHIRE's competitors price tag!

Product Description Sapphire RADEON 9800SE Atlantis - graphics adapter - RADEON 9800 SE - 128 MB

    €147

Money is tight ,someone mentioned about these cards being cheap for a reason, anyone remember what it was?

The key word is 'Atlantis'. That means their memory is 128 bit which has a big effect on performance.

Maybe one of the boys will have a 9800pro for sale when they all get X800's ? :)

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/9700_to_9800_Series.html

Check the Saphire stuff towards the bottom... U can see the SE is 128bit n the pro is 256bit.

I got my 9800pro from them n its sweet... Big difference from the 9200se I started off with.

Em the Key point is the SE . It has half the pipelines dissabled when compared with a regular 9800.

The SE's come with 128bit Memory interface which perform worse than a 9600pro, OR in a 256bit interface which performs just shy of the 9600XT's. Both of these cards are crippled when compared with a 9800.

One main advantage of the 9800SE is that some will softmod to a 9800 or 9800pro..... ie enabling the pipelines again. The 256bit one is based on the 9800, the 128bit is based on the 9500............. so obviously the 256bit is the only one to get if your going down that road.

    TBH, a 9700pro / 9800pro are really a much better choice .

PS Atlantis has no reference to the memory interface at all..........infact that card has the 256bit memory interface.

People are getting very confused with all the models, and mix up the 9800SE with the 128bit normal 9800pro's (which are new out).

Any links on softmoding??? If it doesn't work does it just kill ur card???

Softmodding is just drivers and is pretty safe. go to www.omegacorner.com , download the latest drivers and install them.

There will be an option, regular drivers, 9800SE -> 9800 mod, 9700 -> 9800 mod...

You just pick the 9800SE one, if it doesent work then change the drivers back again........
