how the hell can you have a 5.1 headset?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 954 ✭✭✭ChipZilla

    It's virtual 5.1.

    Ugly as sin though:

And why would you want to buy anything from PC World?:confused::confused:

    Why not ring them!!!!

i have one of them - not actually "virtual" there are multiple audio sources in each side. That's why they're really big. Most comfortable headphones i've ever worn. Bought them from jes.de

As for ringing them i don't have their phone number; there use to be a www.pcworld.ie "under construction" though that's apparently gone.

As for buying off them i don't really know any other stores in Limerick that sell with reasonable prices hardware wise.

It still is quite a distance from me; so if you know of any good places preferable somewhere near / in city centre...;)

I was looking at these from komplett:

Though the latest news of the DHL price hikes made me cringe and i've heard more than one unsettling tale about GLS to think twice about using them for delivery... though in fairness they came mostly from the East; maybe in the West they're a little better?

Sony do a set of cordless 5.1 headphones. They're about €350 tho.

Cheapest in Limerick isn't much of an achievement...

Hmmm nice shop but my abiding memory of it is going in one day and suddenly being on the receiving end of some dirty looks from a psycho security type person....

I didnt even have my knacker jacket on that day!

When they have special offers, they are cheaper than most online shops. They don't have them very often though :/ They also have a shelf to one side that has old / on display products that are sometimes an OK deal.

So basically you're saying the extent of their cheapness is the following:

They don't do discounted gear except once in a blue moon.

They're cheaper than most online shops? Most online shops in the Limerick area? Let's face it. It's not hard to sell your goods for less than most Irish online shops, but that doesn't mean your stuff is cheap.

They've got a shelf of old crap at one side going cheap. And the stuff is old crap - every PC Word has one of these shelves. Great if you're looking for an ISA network card, a copy of MS Works 2.0 on 5.25" disks, or a 10 year old fax machine that's missing some important part you can't get anymore.

    Gimme a break...

I'd love if they were in Cork ... we have compu-ripoff-store and pretty much nothing else ... if you want something quick you are stuffed ...

Yeah compustore are the pits. PFH on Washington street are another bunch of robbers. E-stock used to be ok but I think they've gone bust or something - their website's disappeared.

They had Netgear (and others) 802.11g PCI card for less than €50 and some for less than €40 a while back. This was cheaper than Amazon and overclockers.co.uk and everywhere I looked at the time.

Their shelf of old crap is not that old in Limerick (because the shop is only there about a year). Mostly printer cartridges unfortunately, but they also had PCI network cards, an 802.11g (yes G!) access point for about €60, slow DVD writers and a lot of other crap.

My only point is that they saved me money on 802.11g PCI cards. They may be able to save others money too next time they have a sale (every 3 or 4 months for about 2 weeks) or with their shelf of "old products". Otherwise, yes, they are crap for pricing.

Lads, there's a decent enough little shop in the doughclyne industrial estate in cork called PC systems, check it out, nice gear and they can order stuff pretty easily. Obviously not goin to be as cheap as an online store or even a big chain like pc world but much better prices than compustore. Bought an optorite dvd writer for 110 squid, a friend of mine bought a laser printer for about the same price.
