Windows 2000 Password recovery

    Hi

    Im having a little trouble with my computer. Its running windows 2000 and for years I have been able to start it up where it would go straight to the desktop. Now I find myself presented with a username and password login prompt box anytime i start it now. This has been happening for the last couple of days, but it was fine before that. I have done nothing to change settings. For the username I have my username in the box, but I have forgotten the password ( its been over 2 years since i setup this computer ). Can anyone tell me is it possible to recover the password, and if so, how ? Formatting the hard drive is not an option.
