I am basically in the market for an MP3 player i.e. Creative Zen NX or (maybe) iPod.
Now I know the best place for one of these would be online. Im afraid I dont own or have access to a credit card.

Where in Ireland is the best (cheapest) place to get one of these players.

Komplett have a Creative Zen NX 30gig for 320 which imo is excellent value. Has anybody seen anything similar in the shops?

If so please let me know.

    Thanks ; )

iPod is a rip off for a start, compareable to branded clothing, just because it has a tick means they jack up the price. With iPod your paying for fashion (not style)

if I were you I'd get a lend of somebodys credit card and just buy the IHP-140 (40GB, best of its kind) €380 inc delivery here

That MP3 player has been on my mind for ages. Its soooo cool. 380 is an excellent price.

I feel like a knacker askin someone for their credit card. Keep the suggestions comin'. Thanks Cormie ; 0

I think someone here mentioned that Harvey Norman in Swords stock them but I think they were about €100 dearer?

480 yo yos for an mp3 player. Hmmmmm..... i think thats expensive.

That player kicks iPods ass. I think the iPod is a standard player in a miniskirt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,037 ✭✭✭SteM

You wouldn't feel like a knacker asking to use someones CC if it saved you 100 yoyos woud you? ;)

Has anybody found a cheaper price on the IHP-140 online of offline?
    that is one sweet player.

I dont think you will get it cheaper than €380! But seriously, just get a Credit Card to use.

Got this from the above link

Payment by Cheque and Postal Order
If you want to pay with Postal Orders or with a Cheque then print out this page and send it in with your payment to MX2, FREEPOST, Guernsey, GY1 5SS made payable to MX2.
Alternativly there is a fax form here.
    Payment by Credit/Debitcard
Continue your online order by clicking on the "Next>" button further down the page below.

So you can pay by cheque or postal order:) :):)

GET THAT PLAYER!!! It's so cool, I have one, they kick ass!

And there is allot of unrest about the delay of new firmware, but it should be out soon and when its out its gonna be sooo cool:)

But it won't be an iPOD :D

Everything else is an iPOD clone/wannabe, admittedly the iRiver devices seem to have more going for them, but buying a portable MP3 player is (apart from the specs) also about style anyone who says it isn't is lying!! You just go and buy the best player you can afford, weigh up the differences and get the best option for you.

And I'm very happy with my mini-skirted iPOD! haha.

    Thanks for the info guys.

Well, In my opinion performance definitely out weighs looks. No way would i invest in something like this mainly for its looks and sure who cares if it performs. IRiver specs blow iPOD out of the water. And its a classy looking bit of kit.

    Cool.

When you actually use it for its purpose (listening to music!!!) then you will go for iRiver over IPOD. God. Some people. I can't believe you'd pay that amount of money just to have a cool looking gadget. You should give money to charity instead of wasting it on your image. Anyway, people know what an iPod is so if you wanna be really snotty about the image, get an IHP so when people say "what's that? an iPod?" you can say "it's like an iPod, but better"

Loobz, you seem like you have your head screwed on about the image. Go for iRiver, you will not be let down:)

    Cool.

Im getting an iriver ihp140 - I have searched everywhere and 380 is cheapest apart from amazon.com where it is 311 BUT they dont ship to Ireland.

If Tusky's getting one, im fckin getting one too, that price is 2 sweet

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,700 ✭✭✭Loobz

Where did you see it for 380? Was it the same place as the link in second post?

I can assure you Cormie, image is not a major factor.

As you can see, "classy looking kit" is minor compared to "performance".

OK, well, how about the Creative crew? Whats the cheapest Zen ye have seen?

I'd just go for the 380 offer. It's really worth it! I paid 460 for mine. And I'm not exactly wealthy, I was researching what one to buy for about 5 months. It's really important to me because music is my main thing. Even though I have about 3,000 albums, 40 G is enough for the ones I really want, and the best choice is deffo the iRiver. Anyway, I'm happy with the look of the iRiver, admitidly (spelling is terrible today) iPod looks better, but if someone asked me to swap my iRiver for a 40gb ipod and give me €100 I'd politely say no thank you.

    Nice one.

I will have a good think about it. Has anyone had experience eith the Creatives at all? Or are the the scuzum from the bottom of the barrel? I would think not.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,417 ✭✭✭griffdaddy

i have no experience with the iriver series but creatives blow ipods out of the water, the sound quality is excellent with great bass and crystal trebles (headphone dependant) they have a 60gig creative nx for about 500 in petes which i pass everyday on my way home from school. one of these days i'm gonna smash and grab!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,700 ✭✭✭Loobz

lmao - u been playin vice city too long bud. So have I, especially with the Modern Mod on PC.

Anyway, back on topic. That seems expensive. Peats are expensive for most things anyway imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,080 ✭✭✭✭Tusky

The Creative Zen Touch is cheap and looks nice , has a radio and a touch screen thing for volume etc and 24 hour battery life....

yeah i know it's expensive it's just the only place i've seen it. if you could find that for about 430 or less it'd be sweet cause you practically double your memory for about an extra 80 euro

The iPod is very heavy imo, my mate has an iPod and another has the Creative Zen nx and although the Creative is bigger it is alot lighter then the iPod.

I've also heard the battery on the iPod is dodgy and seems to run out of charge very quickly after alot of use. The above friend i mentioned only gets 1 hour of playback time now!

The iPod is actually quite heavy and tbh it would annoy me carrying it around in a trouser pocket but i wouldnt mind it in a jacket pocket.

If it hasn't shipped yet, your credit card won't have been charged yet, so you should be able to cancel the order.
