I`ve had a flytrap plant for a while now, and its held up pretty well, but recently its been catching big flies.

    thats not the problem.
Three out of four traps have been shut for over ten days, the first one with a fly caught in it is going black around the teeth, the fly`s head is stuck outside.
the second had the fly totally caught but is developing a black lesion on its side
and the third managed to catch a bluebottle thats half in, half out but otherwise fine.

Plant gets plenty of light and water...

    Can anyone help?

I get the impression plant will now let flies rot and ingest the nutrients.
