On the FBD site [1] it says "....discount is available if you drive a diesel car."

    possibly because of:-
    a) diesels generally have less bhp per litre
    or
    b) fbd generally insure farmers

I'm insured by FBD but not a farmer :)

When i changed from a 1.6 ltr petrol to a 2.5 TDS diesel car, it hardly costed anything extra to insure the bigger engine wit FBD, even though i went from 105bhp to 143bhp...

But recently went to insure a FTO, found they wouldn't insure it, in their own words "tis too fast".

So like killian said, they are used to insuring tractors, jeeps, property and stuff.

I know someone(think he's the fourth driver on the policy) with FBD and he's only charged a few hundred quid on a fairly recent 1.4 car even though he's only 20 and has had his full licence three years...I think his bro and sis take all the young driver loadings...

Does anyone know what age FBD insure from on a guys own policy? I know its ageism not to give a quote purely on the grounds its a young driver but a competitive (not five grand )quote?, anyone with them?
