My old fishing basket has died on me after 15 years......so I'm now looking to buy either a seat box or a caryall bag & stool.

I'm only into coarse fishing & the adjustable legs on the seatbox would be handy, but its quite bulky.

    Any thoughts

Boxes are great, if you dont have any distance to walk.
ie parking the car at your swim.

If you have a box you cant carry it and your rods/stands/bait etc in one go.. its just too much to carry.

A carryall bag never carrys all, theyre generally just for rods n reels. (correct me if I'm worng here)

I'm a very travel light fisherman, so that if I wish I can get up and move whenever I want with minimum time and effort

    I have a great combo..
I got a great bag, ver small, will post photo later on. Dunno what its called.. but it carries all my importants.
It's a material bag with 3 plastic removable sectioned compartments and a sheadload of pockets.

All I bring with me for most sessions is the following:
    My bag.
    My rod(s). reel(s) and stand(s).
    A bucket and my bait.
A fold up chair with a carry strap.

I have a bigger box that I bring in the boot of the car and the contents of the bag can change depending on the sort of fish I am targetting.

I'll get a pic up later on, but this bag is absolutely fantastic.

i've a rucksack that has a folding seat built into it, and its very handy, all bait etc goes in the bag plus my waterproofs, bank poles and collapseable landing net get stuck in too. rucksack goes on my back, tackle box and rod gets carried.

a big seatbox is only suitable if you can park beside the swim .. or very close to it.

I do tend to fish a regular swim thats only 5 mins walk from the car, so a seatbox wouldnt be a problem from that point of view & I'm used to lugging a very large basket around anyway.

Main query may have been answered though in that 'carryalls' dont actually carryall !! - I wondered that.

Wish I could get into travelling light Pimp Ninja - my rod bad is a 9 tube version......

    OK heres the bag
    bag.jpg

Little pocket at the front has a trace wallet on rings to keep pike traces, hooklenghts etc.. Also a nifty elsatic thing for holding penknives and disgorgers.

I also have a short length (12 inches) of waven pipe for keeping floats in.

Main part of the bag has 3 of these type of trays
    inside.jpg
For storing various bits and bobs.

I use tray 1 for all my coarse fishing gear. Weights, swivels, booms, hair rigs etc..
    Tray 2 for spinners/plugs
Tray 3 for pike gear. Deadbait rigs, pikefloats, wobbling rigs. Spiky things ;-)

There's also 4 small pockets insinde the main part of the bag I use for keeping hooks, a hooktier (cant tie spade ends myself) spare deviders for the trays.

If I go minimalist All i need is this bag, my rod, my bait and a landing net.

By the way it measures about 1.5 foot square.

Cheers - almost definitely swaying towards a carryall.....

I presume you use a foldable stool or seat ??
