Draw for the Qualifiers

    Tyrone v Down
    Fermanagh v Meath
    Galway v Louth
    Cork v Clare
    Waterford v Longford
    Wexford v Offaly
    Cavan v Derry
    Leitrim v Dublin

Was a bit disappointed with this draw. It does not really throw up any mouth watering clashes. CAvan v Derry is probably the pick of the draw but I would think Cavan will come through that one.

Wexford vs Offaly will also be very close. Down came very close to beating Tyrone in their first clash last year so who knows?

Clare get a soft draw, preparing to put my house on us for the double

Its a type of draw which is open to many shocks:
I might chance big odds on a accumulator (obviously not all the below but some) :

Tyrone, Fermanagh, Cork, Longford, Wexford(depends who's favorites),Cavan, Leitrim

    Tyrone v Down
    Fermanagh v Meath
    Galway v Louth
    Cork v Clare
    Waterford v Longford
    Wexford v Offaly
    Cavan v Derry
    Leitrim v Dublin

I think you should make that bet. You should also make a side bet putting your mortgage on Leitrim, cause they are obviously a shoe in.

Well nobody expected them to draw with Roscommon so you never know!

I think the point I was trying to make here Waylander is I would bet for odds. Leitrim were not a bad team the first day in Carrick which is where they play the dubs as far as I know.

The first day against rosommon they played really good football. The second day they were well in it and starting to gnaw at Roscommons confidence when Roscommon got a goal from no-where which changed the game. Also they were unbelievably unlucky against Ros last year which points towards consistently good performances.

I would not be over-confident going down there as a Dub. As a Roscommon man I'm glad we got out of it.Leitrim are gonna love a chance at the Dubs in carrick and after the woeful performance of the Dubs the last day. Will they have found the spirit and hunger they lacked against a hungry "do or die" Westmeath team?

Yeah, you are right! A dublin fan is not really in a psoition to rip the p*ss out of anyone at the minute anyway. Does anyone know when these matches are due to take place? Think I will make the trip to Carrick if I have nothing on that weekend.

The "designated" counties thing is a joke. Weaker county my ass.

I think we should try and put out our weakest possible team in the League next year. Maybe then we'll get a home draw.

Derry were by far the better team. Their fitness told in the end against an unfit Cavan team. Cavan were forced to play two backs in midfield for alot of the game and Dermot wasn't fit enough to play. We were unlucky but if we had to put over our chances at the end of the game we would have won, we didn't so fair dues to Derry for fighting back.

We need to learn to put over these vital scores, it was our downfall against Armagh a few weeks back.

I'd say Derry will get into the Quarter finals at least now. They are designated for the next game and Offaly or Wexford won't like travelling up to Celtic Park.

Are you sure that they will be at home? Wexford and Offaly play next Saturday so I doubt they will be expected to travel to Derry on the weekend of the 10th/11th! Especially if Offaly go though!

If Wexford win I would give them a good chance against Derry! Last year Derry beat Wexford in the qualifiers but Wexford gave away sloppy goals, a year older and a year wiser I think that they have learnt from their mistakes

If the designated county rule thingy comes into play then Derry will be at home.

Don't write Derry off. They're a good side, Cavan knew it would be a tough game once they heard it was Derry.

I think that Ulster is a stronger footballing provence than Leinster and it shows because the same teams aren't winning it every year. That is one of the reasons why I think Derry will win. Look at what happened to Meath against a Fermanagh side with ten players who are in their first Championship year.

Derry did take a trouncing against Tyrone but I think that was just a freak result. Derry didn't look fit that day either. But we'll see how it goes. I don't think Offaly or Wexford have enough quality players to match Derry though.

I would never write any team off, and I certainly do not think that Offaly or Wexford would have it easy against Derry(especially as Derry have an extra weeks rest)!

However Derry are very inconsistant, as the league and recent championship games have shown. I believe that both Offaly and Wexford are capable of beating Derry!

As for the Fermanagh Meath match, Meath are in transition at the moment and are very poor(by their standards) and were in with no chance of winning Leinster this year, where as Fermanagh are a very strong outfit. Having said that I believe that Meath would have beaten either Derry or Cavan at the weekend had they played them!

Designated counties only counts for home advantage for the first two rounds of qualifiers. From now on games will be played at neutral venues (unless teams decide to toss a coin).

I'd fancy the winners of Offaly/Wexford to beat Derry.

Very disappointed for Cavan that they put in such an inept performance. But I think they'll do well over the next 2/3 years.
