Hi I have a friend coming home from the US in about a months time. I am going to ask him to get me a digital camera but I don't know what to buy. I am not into photography at the moment so it's main purpose is for holidays etc but I don't mind paying a bit extra if someone tells me a good reason. If anyone can give me any advice I would really appreciate it.
www.bestbuy.com is a store near to him where I am looking to buy a camera.
    Thanks in advance

I'd say go for a nikon. I've got a Olympus
mju 400 (a 4 megapixel) and a 3 mp Nikon (can't remember the model of it but it's the same shape as this one just a model down.

The Nikon takes much sharper images, picks up colours really well and does low light (like in dark pubs, such as bruxelles :)) without flash quite well. Only problem I have with it is it eats battery power and its falling appart but thats from age :)

The olympus is nice aswell, its small so I can leave it in my pocket, the battery lasts ages on it with the flash turned off (250 photos, about 30 where with flash though) most of the body is metal aswell so I hope it can survive a drop or two.

I got the olympus before the nikon and if I'd known what the two where like before I'd have just gone with the nikon.

get your friend to get a nice expensive camera, say a Canon 10D or a Nikon D70, sell it when you get it and then buy a decent cheaper camera and pocket the leftovers :D

Nikon D70 *drools* ...... yessssss you need that one :D I've a D100 ( got it before the D70's came out ) I LOVE LOVE LOVE it . I have two smaller Olympus cameras and they are nice but just don't compare . Basically would just depend on how much you ( or your friend as case may be ) are willing to give.
