With a staggering 85% of the vote! That's hard on poor Van!

    It's hardly a surprise.

Her gender alone meant that she wasn't going to stay. I do believe in the history of BB, in a straight Boy V Girl eviction (ie where there is one boy and one girl up against each other and no one else), only one girl has won. That was Kate in Series 3.... the eventual outright winner of the series.

Vanessa wasn't the next Kate. She really wasn't that likeable and she kinda loved herself a bit too much.

Dan is much more personable than she is.

I think much more women than men vote, which might explain it.

Did it ever occur to people that the reason that these women on BB are getting voted out is simply because the vast majority of the female contestants from show 1-5 ARE (even compared to their male counterparts) annoying/boring/self-centered & generally unlikable individuals and not simply because it's the the female viewership are autonomically voting them out of the show?

    As was stated....
[Vanessa] really wasn't that likeable and she kinda loved herself a bit too much. Dan is much more personable than she is.

... so in that case at least it was personality not gender that condemned the contestant . Now, who's to say that wasn't the reason for the majority (if not all?) of Female-v-Male evictions in the past? I think people saying that 'oh well, women will automatically vote out women just to [insert reason here]' is actually doing a disservice to women themselves.

Last year - case in point. Women voted Anoushka out. Men didn't. Men wouldn't vote her out over three blokes. It was women. It is a simple fact that more women than men watch Big Brother, and women in general are more critical than men are.

It is not doing women a disservice to say that we automatically will vote for the other women out, but it is true that women will be quicker to criticise a female before a male. I voted for Vanessa to be evicted, but the reason I voted for her was that I preferred Dan.
