Visiting WWII beaches

Thinking of taking a cycling trip over to the WWII beaches on the coast of france. Has anyone else visited them and how did you get over there? I was thinking of getting ferry over and bringing the bike but more expensive than i though it'd be €212 for a foot-passanger!! Tks
