OK this is the most frustrating thing ever especially when using forums. I have an IE explorer winodw open on a web page, i want to open up a new window. so i use the shortcut 'Ctrl + N' how ever this new window that this opens replaces the original one. So i cant open any more than 1 web page. ive been in and out of all the settings in the Internet options and its not anything on my keyboard. this is getting quite frustrating. Im Using IE 6. Can any one help me please???

I can't see what would make IE behave like that - but I can recommend a browser which will make browsing forums far easier, Firefox - tabs can be opened using Ctrl + t or middle clicking a link. It's MUCH easier then using Ctrl + n and opening a new window every thread you want to read.

    Very surprised about that

Have you given it a bit of time to settle in and explore the great tab options ( to get the most out of it, it requires the tab browser extension which is like a plug-in)

Moved to IE from netscape in '95

Stuck with it for many years, every so often trying out the competition until I switched to Firefox last year.

I am delighted with it. The tab functionality is superb and just what I always wanted in a browser :D

Are you talking about the theme ( the look of the browser )? If so you are more then likely using 0.9, the theme was changed very near it's release, you can get other themes here some ppl have a very strong dislike of the new theme. I personally am not upgrading to Firefox 0.9 until a proper version of AdBlock is released. Yet even using 0.8: Firefox is so far ahead of IE that IE has stopped choking on it's dust - because Firefox has finished the race while IE is still limbering up:p. Frankly there is nothing good in IE compared to Firefox, what is it that you don't like?

I dont know what i hate most about firefox i just generally dont like it. i supose its becasue im so used to IE. The only thing i use tabs for is on msn, ive got an addon called cameno, which is very handy. Also my keyboard has a bunch of buttons for homepage,search,messenger/sms,email etc at the top and i simple cant be arsed binding them to firefox.

    What OS are you using?

Windows XP groups similar windows together, so when you hit Ctrl-N, a second window opens, but there's only one IE button on the taskbar.

Im using windows xp, i know what you mean, that wasnt the problem.that usulally occurs when you have too many windows open that they dont fit on the task bar. this problem was that the new window would actually replace the original window. There was a box in Internet Options>>Advanced saying 'Enable third party browser extensions'. this was ticked, and just by luck i disabled it and it all went back to normal.
