    Hi

Have friend who has a place in the Canaries - he had a SKY card that gave him access to Irish Channels on SKY. They suddenly disappeared.

Anybody have a reputable source for a SKY card in Spain that will give my friend back his much wanted Irish channels

To get the irish channels through Sky you need a Sky subscription based in Ireland. He would be better off getting a card from Sky sent to an irish address and then get it sent out to the canaries. It would be much cheaper than sourcing one in Spain.

The real problem here is the dish size. For any of the channels on 2D you are going to be needing a 2.4 dish at least in the Canaries.

    Check out www.tecatel.com & www.ciberland.com

Otherwise go to one of the bars in the area and ask them who installed their system.

Once your card is activated and you are paying your bills there is no other reason why the channels should disappear. If all of the channels have disappeared then it's a different issue.

Sorry about that ,forgot to post message

Can you give us more info. if the card and box are legit and was brought out to Canaries from Ireland and there is a problem, then its no different than having the same problem in Ireland except as Shane o C says its a dish size prob, yo can contact Sky and tell them you have a prob but call fom an Irish tel nr, but then how long were you getting Irish Channels before they went off? so give us the full history of box and card. I brought a box with irish card out to Marbella with no problems so far

    check out www.astra2d.co.uk
It's compiled by expats across Europe, with reports
from most countries on how people got on in the efforts to receive Sky..
I'm in Budapest and hoping to get a 2m dish to catch the signal

Aren't the cards and digiboxes paired/matched? His only way of getting a new card is to write from the address where the box is supposed to be.

Now that the revenue commissioners are investigating Irish property holdings in France and Spain I can imagine all these tax investigators checking for Sky dishes outside homes on the costas!

I'd imagine the revenue commissioners wouldn't bother,it would be too much hassle as there are so many dishes down there and all large.
None of the look like your commoner garden sky dish.
They are mainly owned either by the locals or British ex pats both of which the Revenue have no control over.

All those dishes look grey in the dark aswell, just like cats :D

I live in London and have an Irish Sky subscription registered at my parent's address in Ireland.

The channels have only ever gone off once and that was because the direct debit was coming from my english bank account. I changed the payment method to use my english bank account's visa number and it has worked ever since.

I have tried my card in other peoples digiboxes and what I noticed is that TV3 and TG4 clear on any digibox but not RTE1 and RTE2 as these channels need the card and the box to be married.
