My comp at the moment has a cheap case psu n fans ( apart from cpu fan which is thermaltake) and the noise is driving me mad.

I was thinking of getting a Antec SLK3700BQE http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Antec_Cases.html and I was just wondering are cases generally a good long term investment. I'm probably upgrading at the end of the year and if I'm going to spend money on a case I want to know it will be usable for the next few years.

Its prob a stupid question but will I be able to use this case (or any similar ) with socket 939 etc?

Sorry for another case question on the boards :(

I assume you have to buy the fans serperatly too?

    THanks

afaik, all of the upcoming socket 939 boards are a variation of the atx standard.
i keep hearing whispers that the atx standard is on its way out though...

As long as the case form factor is ATX then it will accept all mobos that are ATX aswell,Intel are pushing a new BTX form factor that is to have better cooling.Btw that case comes with 1 120mm fan at the back ( for exhaust ) but has the option to accept another 120mm one at the front for the hard drives ( good case cooling )

On the same topic does anyone have any info about E-ATX...is it for server type mobos ?

You will find it extremely difficult to future proof anything computer related... Mind you, anything ATX at the moment with a decent power supply is the best you can do.

ah! by the time you are going to be changing the mobo again you will want to change the case! Its a psychological thing. besides a case is less the a tenth of a pc cost so its not really that big a thing.

A good usb mouse and keyboard would be far more future proof

They wont make my comp quiter and cooler though :)

Suppose I may as well take the plunge. If I keep waiting for the "right time" I'll never get anything.

Besides this elf hover beside me is really getting on my nerves!
