Thought this piece of bb news from the states was interesting:) Makes you wonder what new products/pricing Ireland will have to offer in 2006.

sounds very promising:) am i right in saying that any current adsl exchange can simply offer this new kind of broadband with very little modification/cost by 2006? at least by 2006 most of Ireland shud be broadband capable by then.

As the previous poster highlihted we're dealing with Eircom here, who are probably the most backward Teleco in Europe. It is worth noting that the writer of the article has a 6mb DSL product at the moment, the best you can get here from Eircom, without going into the business offerings or hock, is 512k - and that's only available to a limited number of people.

Perhaps Eircom will change and become more progressive, and if that happen's the price of bacon will soar :)

Yep, you better snap out of that dream lads. Eircom might begin to look at upgrading from the basic 512k package in 2008. Thats my firm belief.

Nah, by then exchanges will have been unbundled by other competitors, offering better packages and/or contention.

Ah, who needs speed like that anyway. 512k is good enough for everyone.
