I'm afraid I don't know of anyone, but perhaps the others might do... Actually, I have a card for a Palm and Tarot master from Westmeath if you're interested?

sounds cool, I would love to get my fortune told by a good psychic reader or tarot card read. Does any one know of one in the Dublin area?

There is quiet a large diffrence in a Tarot reader and a fortune teller.

Although the tarot can be utilised for dividational and predictive purposes its strenght lies in working with psychological arkatypes in the present allowing inner development and understanding.

A fortune teller uses there inate psychic ability (through which ever form it presents itself to them) in order to forsee certain events.

I do understand that both these abilitys and tecniques can co exist but in all honesty it is quiet rare.

although i have read the Tarot myself i do not proclaim any great elitisim in it, it would be far more benifical and worth while if you got a deck of your own to develop your own senses, as in the end the true power of dividation hosts not in the tool but the person...

Give it a try and im sure you willl be impressed.

But if you are still at ends i do know of a couple of excelent readers but again i think your focus should not be in seeking the answers outside... but looking in and realiseing you have them all along.

    Thank you again for reading

yes you are right about that.

I have a Rider Waite Tarot deck and although I am still learning I had some pretty good results. It seems to work whenever I read for others but never for myself...any ideas how to get better tuned into it so I get a better reading for myself?

When it comes to oneself, there is often to much emotional energy invested in ideas and plans that this can cloud the veiw in what the cards are truely telling you.

I dont use the cards regarding myself to divine, as there are usually to many psychological aspects in play to get a true reading instead i use a simple spread (most often element or caro cross) to get a general sense of what is happening right now in my life, where the strenghts and weaknesses lie and most importantly what i can do to promote myself and turn it into a positive factor.

The trick regarding any reading is to understand that the power to shape your life lies in your hands... you just have to use it.

As with most things the more practice the more in tune you become, dont rush the prossess just flow with it and learn at a speed you are comfertable with... and after a while you will realise the cards are just an extension of internal energies and there need regarding yourself will no longer be a real need anymore.

(i also like you choice in decks... as that was the only deck i would read with for quiet a long time)

I got some advice about fortune tellers and tarot readers and that. If you are going to get a reading do not do it in your own house. Do it in theirs or somewere neutral . The reason for this is some reader's who talk to the other side and talk to dead rellatives can let in other unwanted spirits and they can cause havoc.

thank you for all your replies.

I am still mega interested in meeting someone as I am in such a crossroads in my life (i.e. 2 failed IVFs) and am wondering what is out there for me if motherhood is not an option.

Yeah I know decisions are within oneself but to be honest I would love an external point of view. Sometimes it helps.

www.unapower.com (seems to be down at the moment, try www.98fm.ie

98fm's resident psychic, out of interest i sent her some questions on the show and the predictions turned out to be true. She does private readings too i think.

Its a terrible thing to go through but there are always other options. But if that was the reason to go my advice would be not to go. My grandmother was psycic but didnt really practise. But sometime the messages they were getting through were not real.
If you are having issues and finding it hard to cope mabey see a councelor. If you do see a psycic please take what they are saying with a pinch of salt.

    Hey Dre

I appreciate what you are saying and will take it all with a pinch of salt. I might just want some light relief at the minute!

    But thanks anyway.

I find I nearly always get the best results from my tarot cards just by shuffling the cards, asking a question and picking out the card I am most drawn to. A few recent ones have come true. The other night I asked the same question twice (shuffling the cards really well inbetween) and I picked out the same card. Often I ask a question about a particular person and their significator comes up. My significator has come up when I've asked questions like, "how does so-and-so feel" about a particular situation involving me.

So does anyone any good Tarot card readers or fortune tellers in Dublin?

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I would not recommend the one just off Mary Street. She is a fake.

Kennett, i dont mean to pass judgement on her abilitys but in all honesty i totaly agree!

My friend says the same, and he is also a witch. It surprised me, upon reflection that she didn't recognise what my potential spiritually/psychically was, so that twiggedonto me that she was fake. However, there are really, really good Fortune Telleres around, and they're usually relatively hard to find because of this...

Yeah..A lot of them around the city centre are a fake. I find the really good tarot card readers are usually those who don't advertise or whom are known by word of mouth (if that is the correct way of saying it, but you know what I mean?)

There was a good fortune teller/Psychic up in Kilcoole, only some people know her as she doesn't do it professionally. I went to her when I was 19 and a lot of the stuff she told me came true around two years later. I thought she was very good but unfortunately I have lost her phone number damn!.

My sister went through the same thing and eventually after trying for years, they stopped "trying", bought a house, set a marriage date and just got on with things.
Then she found out she was expecting!
It seems as soon as she relaxed and stopped trying, everything worked out.
(I have a beautiful little niece now too)
    Best wishes

    just a side note.
Rather than giving someone else your hard earned cash and letting them "decide" your fate for you, get yourself a set of runes.
whereas it's not suggested that you perform a tarot reading for yourself, runes are used as a personal oracle and offer insight on your own path.
You can consult them daily and are very useful when your seeking advice.
    consult your own oracle.

In terms of Dublin, theres one in the Blackrock Market every sunday who's good. I was the biggest sceptic until a couple of months ago.

what about the house of astrology on parliament street there's a guy in there who does tarot readings, very good. There's a good few of them in there, some are healers and all sorts, has anyone else been and if so whats your experience. i have a number for a girl in clondalklin too who aparently is very good.
I would have to say though, take it with a pinch of salt but just think of it as a bit of fun.

oh, there was a english guy who used to sit on the molly malone statue in the city centre who was apparently very good, does anyone remember him? Is he still there?

I went to the Blackrock one,

    She was really bad

I ehar there is a woman who does readings on Middle Abbey street for like 100 euros which I think is a bit steep. Does anyone know if she is good though?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 153 ✭✭satori

She was... but i think with the price she charges at the moment, the focus would more likely be on financil gain then you...

    (E100... come on people!!)

100 Euro for a fortune? You'd have to be pretty, rich, desparate or mad to fall for that, or perhaps all 3!

I know a guy who would give you a reading for 1 euro. He is not psycic but is able to read a person by body language. Kinda like Derrin Brown . Interesting stuff .
