there are clubs that can pay more... but i read somewhere today that he will be the highest paid teenager or something like that... not sure if that is in england or the world... could be bull****, but for a lad like rooney.. getting paid 26 big ones per week to play for the club you love is a good deal for him....

according to the guardian it is 35g per week:
"The club would be reluctant sellers even for an English-record amount. To that end, they are willing to break their recently imposed £20,000-a-week wage ceiling to inflate Rooney's salary from a basic £13,000-a-week to nearer £35,000-a-week on a new five-year deal."

All slagging aside, 35 grand ain't gonna keep him for long.. Fair enough, the draw of playing for the club you supported as a kid must be massive, but if he gets as good as he is expected to become, 100,000 grand a week is more appealing...

The big guns in Europe could take him away from Everton if thats all they can offer him..

Ah yeah, possibly longer... He is still young and will likely stay at Everton for another 2 or 3 years for sure. Then the big boys could up their interest.

They will have to do better than that. The bigger clubs will see this as a good oppertunity to sign him.

According to the Sundays Rooney has turned down the offer of his new contract and the Everton board are resigned to losing him and are prepared to sell for £25 million which would wipe out the clubs debt.

They are reported to be expecting an offer from Man United. United have said their summer buying is over unless someone special becomes available, there is no doubt Fergie places Rooney in the Special Player catagory the question is in the current climate is he worth £25 Million and do United Need another striker? I would also imagine he would be on Chelseas shopping List too If he becomes available.

i bet there will be people who said Saha wasnt worth 13 million but Rooney will be worth 25 , for 25 million you could get some very good players : Vieri , Diego , Totti (if Roma have money problems and im sure they do ) , most defenders in the world , Trezeuguet , and many many players better than Rooney with the exception of Vieri are not ageing .

Rooney will be an Everton player for at least 2 more years in my opinion. He is a true blue. he is in the dawn of his career. I think the football rather than the money is more important to him at the moment.

Everton FC will also do their best to keep him at the club.

Washout,I would like to think the same but I think money is getting more inportant to players than anything else. Also the fact that Everton are in massive death could make him move sooner.

in a way i agree wit hyou dub13.....but without Rooney i think Everton are prime relegation canditates next season..

nowi think a 25 milliion debt and having rooney and being in the premiership is much better than a rooneyless team with no debt in division 1

There is no doubt that Everton will do all they can to keep Rooney but they just don't have the finances to match the bigger clubs and if Rooney plays like he did the other night in the rest of Englands matches he will be in even greater demand.

I dont believe footballers, particulaly ones starting out on their career can afford to put football before money today . Every player is just one bad tackle away from the scrapheap in what is already a short career span and therefore must take whatever decisions necessary to make themselves financially secure as early as possible.
