This is an embarassing problem so I don't really want to go to the doctor. I want to see if anybody else suffered something similiar. Its not really that bad, but sometimes when I take a sh*t it hurts and then there is a bit of blood on the toilet paper. This only started about a year ago and its not too often it happens, but today there was more blood than normal. I know you are going to say go to the doctor. I'm not going to. Any other suggestions or explanations?

Probably just bowel cancer. No need for any medical intervention, flat 7-up will clear it up.

    ...or colonic cancer.
But hey! Just sit there and die!

"Your doctor will ask a few questions and is likely to examine you and may want to feel inside the anus with a gloved finger. Sometimes he will look inside with a metal instrument"

I found that on a website.

Cancer? you guys know how to look at the bright side of things.

Clearly, some manwhore has been coming into your bedroom through your window and been ass-raping you in your sleep.
To rectify this situation, I recommend garlic on your windowsill, and sewing up your anus, to prevent covert penetration.

Either that, or you're on your way towards suffering a prolapsed anus (google for pics - ouch!). Doctors* recommend a frame fashioned from chicken wire to be inserted in the anus to help it maintain it's stability.

    *May not be doctors

Could be a lot of things..had something similar once...turned out to be damaged nerve ending there, but also know of another who had it - tunred out in that case to be irritabel bowel syndrome.

It's not gonig to go away. Not gonig to the doctor will only make the situation worse - certainly wont make it better.

To the doctor, or be doomed to a life of anal painage

Bite the bullet and go to the doctor.
Sorry to be crude, but whatever the doc sees up your ass, he'll have seen before many times. No need to be embarrassed. But better to be slighly embarrassed now than critically ill further down the line..!

    other suggestions or explanations?

It quite obviously is something like the ebola virus or bowel cancer.

Why do people bother posting these type of medical questions ?
Fair enough if you've been to the doctor and now want to talk to some people (who may be in a similar situation) about it.

But questions along the lines of : "I have <insert extremely vague symtoms here>, please diagnose it for me" are only going to be met with ridicule and/or recommendations to go and see a professional...

if it is hemorrhoids it says on the internet that not much can make them go away, only fibre.

it may be that irritabel bowel syndrome. It runs in my family. The doctor couldn't do anything for that either.

Thanks for the suggestions. I must now go and eat properly.

On the off chance it is cancer, would there be any symptoms different to hemorrhoids?

Entirely disagree. I have IBS, quite seriously, but under control now thatnks to a dietician, following consultation with my GP, and I also have tablets for when it gets bad. Never felt better since that doctor's visit.
