I have to say there's been a few...

Sarah McLauchlan's entire discography - can't beat it for the wallowing
Damien Rice's "o" - for the same reason but on a metaphorical level
Richard Ashcroft's "alone with everybody" - for reasons that I do not wish to state ;)

& the rest of the time it's been just white noise... something that I can ignore; The soundtrack to Amelie, Stigmata, French Kiss, and City of Angels, not to mention a little Jacques Brel & Edith Piaf.

Right now it's Starlight Drive by Juno Falls.
Before I got that it was Staros by the very wonderful Miss Nina Hynes.

So, I was listening to Juno Falls earlier, realised that it was after midnight,
time for The Jimmy Cake or The Redneck Manifesto to stop on
92.1 and for the real Phantom to start.

I switched off the CD and switched on the radio without looking at
the dial. "This Song Is Your Own" was on, so I reckoned that it must
be Phantom... then it faded into "Nights In White Satin" with a jingle
    for Today FM.

It's great to hear Juno Falls getting played all over the place. Fair fecks
to all involved, etc. Hope the tour goes well for them.

hmmmmm... where to start... Mogwai's Happy Songs for Happy People is spinning a fair bit on my walkman, and both of Elbow's albums "Cast of Thousands" preferably...

...incidently does any1 in that vicinity have their name in the sleeve of that cd, they credited everyone who was in the crowd at Glastonbury 2002 for the last line of "Grace Under Pressure"

and somethin that was pointed out in an article i read somewhere said:
"'we still believe in love, so **** you.'
It's a line that is emblematic of the new album. Love wasn't a word that was used once on the first album (except in the title track). On ?Cast of Thousands? it appears 40 times in one song."
i can't remember the relevence of that quote as i spent so long trying to find it.... but anywho...

Have been listening to the same 3 albums over + over in the last few weeks.
Roman Candle (Ellliott Smith), Heartworm (Whipping Boy) and Pinkerton (Weezer).
I need to go cd shopping again:)

what with it being exam weather & all, im letting myself listen to all the albums i wont let myself listen to cos i'll listen too much &end up hating them:
    setlist-the frames
the live double counting crows album... across a wire, that's the one..
    bowie. in gallon form.
    the bends-radiohead
    american recordings4- johnny cash
    lynyrd skynyrd- pronounced leh-nerd-sk'n-nerd

gonna have to teach me some self control before i lose this all this wonder..

You didn't say if you were trying to get to their website, or to the shop.
There's a map on their website, so I won't waste time describing how to
get there from whatever part of town you happen to be coming from.

The website for Road Records is http://www.roadrecs.com
Not to be confused with roadrecords.com which is a recording studio.

Speaking of, I got a phone call today from a guy in London doing a survey about Irish radio stations. It went on for about 15 minutes, but was actually kind of fun. :)

Anyhoo, one of the sections was he'd name types of music and then give examples of artists of that genre, and I'd to say how I'd rate them out of ten.
I was very impressed when he mentioned FKOS, Juno Falls and Republic of Loose. Great that they're getting recognition even over there. :D

Also, he listed about 20 radio stations and I'd to say yes when he said one that I'd listened to in the last week. It was pretty much no all the way through.
I told him I listened to Phantom (and had it blasting in the background at the time) and he asked me loads about it. Basically, I rated it tops for every question. :D

Ok, sorry for the long post. :D

    xxx me

know what you mean Derek, I fecking hate when that happens but i've figured out now that if you see cd's by bands that have alwyas been 22-24 euro suddenly appear in the 10.99-13.99 bracket or 2 for 20 type thing there's usually a remaster on the way and they are trying to shift all their old stock before the remaster comes out.

I'm still quite fond of Songs for Polar Bears & Final Straw, by a certain band that I shall be seeing in Dallas in October. :D

Other than those .. The Wayward Bus by the Magnetic Fields, & 1977 by Ash.

absolutly, it's been in my top 5 since the very day i got it... which has been quite a number of years... probably won't knock Belle & Sebastian's TigarMilk off the top but it come's damn close!

at this moment of time id have to say Death Cab For Cutie is in my Cd player more then anything else... it's only really be swapped latley for B&S's Dear Catastrophe Waitress or The New Pornographers but never for very long.
