I'm wondering does anyone have the problem with a VERY LOUD fan with their 8300? I've had my 8300 since christmas now, but although I have noticed this since then, lately the fan is driving me CRAZY!! After 10-15 minutes you cannot here yourself thing and I have to shut it down... I cannot play games i.e Flight Simulator or anything else for that matter because it gets so loud ! Also if you run programs like virus scans or adaware it just goes crazy. Sometimes when I switch on the computer after turning it off after the noise gets too bad, it goes so loud for the first few seconds I really do thing that's its going to blow up!!

I thought it was because I had a Radeon Pro graphics card??

Anyway, can I buy a new quiter fan for this?

Sounds like the fan is knackered, dells are normally very quiet.

Try cleaning the dust off the fan using a clean small paint brush. My machine sounds like a bloody jet engine, I just twitched on my old P3 box and it's quiet as a breeze, better still my old C64 ran for years on end without a murmur. might just go back to that! :)

theres no dust on the fan, the pc is spotless like brand new. It's starts off ok getting abit louder & louder the longer you're on it. It doesn't sound knackered just that the fan goes really fast especially with graphic intensive games, etc.

I've been reading from other dell users that have the same prob.

Ring them and tell them. Get them to replace it. They will.
You could also replace the fan with a kick ass silent one. Check Overclockers.co.uk they have some kick ass fans.

    case fan's
    cpu fan's

Also (I know u said it was clean, but still), you should head over to itDirect and get a can of compressed air (they are like €6 or €7) and use it on your pc generally once a month, Its good practice :) its more of a preventative (<
is that even a word? :p) thing

Don't spend any money on different fans. You will end up with something which doesn't fit in with the custom scoops that dell put in to direct airflow.
Give dell a ring, if you got it at christmas its still under warranty, and get them to sort it out.

It's quite normal AntiRip! Dimensions fans are very very powerful and loud! their rating is like 90cfm

    I have 8250

sometimes, if your computer will freeze, and you reset, when it will turn on will sound like it's gonna blow up now! it's normal!

The only thing is! what do you hear? air moving? or some rattling sound like the fan holder is hitting something?

Cause I had a problem, when fan would start running high, the fan holder would start rattle and hit the metal case! and it was annoying! then I put some stuff between fan holder and the case, now I just hear air moving and fan!

it's not that loud when you are not loading it fully tbh

It doesn't sound broken or anything, not rattling or hitting off anything...just a loud fan (airflow).

My cousin just got one & he says its the same, so I guess you're right CyberGhost.

Thanks for the input anyway guys, I appreciate it

    ;)
