Ive had one for a while now. Its pritty good. Good battery life when on half speed but performance is'nt great. Considering it runs at half speed (in my case 600Mhz)

Games, cant really comment as i dont play them on it. I did try to install Vice City however the lack of a dedicated graphics card didn't help :) Not related to the processor :)

Its a Dell by the way

Eh? Then run at a minimum 1.3 ghz. You have me confused:-)

My da has a centrino 1.3 ghz, it puches well above it's weight and is definately faster than his p4 1.8 dell box.

Have played warcraft 3 and hagemonia flawlessly on it.

If you want to to play games on it just make sure you get at least mobility 9600 or gerforce fx 5650 go gfx.

The gfx will be the real key to playing games noy the CPU!

    Oh and about €2000 :-)

I have one and think it's great. Good performance and battery life. I don't use it for games at all ... more for work, and internet.

I'd probably go for the Radeon as I believe alot of people don't like those newer Nvidia cards.

I have a dell d 800 1.3 centrino with an Nvidia 4200GO. Plays most games well enough and to second uberpixie, it's quicker than my 1.8 dell desktop

I know. Its a 1.4 Ghz. But with Intel Speed Step they run at half speed. Hence the good battery life

If games are your prime concern, try and get a faster processor with a good graphics card, the fact that it is centrino is only an advantage if your are concerned with wireless connections or battery life and i would imagine you will be plugged in when playing games. Some 2-3yr old laptops are better game players that the newest centrino processed machines.

Could you post a link or a timeframe as I want to get this very soon.

Well i'm getting the Tosh M30-832 with 1.5 Centrino 512 RAM, and dedicated 64MB Geforce FX5200. Will probaly just be playing medium games, nothing like doom3 or anything. Will it be ok?

if all you want to do is play older games/medium games yeah its fine.

At least consider getting something a little higher in gfx: 9600 mobility/5650 go, just to give you a little breathing space for games.

You know yourself once you buy there is not a lot you can upgrade on a lappy :-)

Dothan is the codename for the desktop chip based on the existing Pentium-M, isn't it?

Check out the new "A series" Sony laptop in Liffey Valley. 17-inch WUXGA (1920x1200) display and a Mobile ATI 9700 GFX card. Its a desknote. In that its a laptop designed to be a desktop replacment, rather than a true portable latop. But for playing games its probably the best laptop you going to get it. Its €2700 BTW. I've an older GRT laptop with a 16" and a Fx5600 P4, 2.8 and I can play most games on it fine, if not the latest games on the highest of detail/quality settings. But I got it primarly for work anyway. If I had the cash I'd love the new A series though. All these desknotes have terrible battery life. An hour or two at most. Mine lasts an hour no more. Fantastic screens and keyboard though.
