    Hi all,

I'm in a bit of a dilema and need your help. I am hoping to do a 'nixer' in work over the next couple of weeks. A particular department wants me to sort out a load of old pc's they have, basically I'll check to see if they work and have sufficient RAM/hard disk space etc. to reuse. Throw out crap pc's and keep the good machines. There are approximately 20 pc's to get through. This particular department is very keen to get this done as soon as possible, I have been told that they 'desperately' need it done, by a reliable resource within the department! They are talking about a cash deal, no paperwork ;)

I just want to know if I have to come up with a figure to charge them what should I try for, I don't want to go over the top but then again I don't want to be paid a pittance. I'll probably be doing this after work in the evenings and want to make sure I'm not being exploited! Another thing is that this department is revenue generating for the main company so they wouldn't really have a problem coming up with the cash if a reasonable figure was submitted, the problem is I have no idea what to charge them as I don't do this kind of thing on a regular basis.

Any ideas guys? What is my time and efforts worth!

If this isn't the right forum to post this in please move it :)

20 pc's isn't going to take long. Two evenings at most, or one full day. So thats about 8 hours. €20 per hour would be a good rate IMO. Whats that €160? Remember if you are going to declare the income you'll be taxed on it. So maybe you should charge closer to €200 if thats the case.
