Magnolia

I caught this on UKDrama about two weeks ago. I knew nothing about it except that it was kind of a different film that won some minor awards a few years ago, but generally went unknown to the main film watching public.

Its 3 hours long, the whole film is based on these characters that are all connected through a six degrees of kevin bacon type thing. The camera work at the start with Aimee Mann playing against it was very good. I felt like I was being pulled into the television set. That and I felt a bit sick.

Many well known actors are in it e.g. Tom Cruise and Julianne Moore. Lots of other actors, at the start it looked like 'Boogie Nights 2: 20 Years Later' because of same actors in Magnolia.

Liked the film. The bizarre twist at the end was cool, but I felt tired and exhausted after watching it.

What did everyone else think of it?

Loved it - but I was expecting more bizzare coincidences like at the start (imo the best bit of the film)

    Pretty class though.

One of my favourite films. Excellent storytelling without losing the audience.

I love that movie think its great. Favourite bit is when everyone is singing along to Wise up by Aimee Man. Really powerfull scene and goes to show that the right song used at the right time can have a huge dramatic impact on a movie.
