Finger time info

    Hey Im trying to find out where I can get the idle time as printed in the finger info without actually parsing it out i.e. finger -i | awk{etc.. :dunno: any help?

    any idea where finger gets it from? maybe
    stat(tty, &stat_buf) and then compare stat_buf.mtime and time(NULL) ?

    its just | awk '{ print $whatever-field-number-you-want }'
    like

    w |grep username | awk '{ print $3 }'

    for idle

    Im trying to get it from the source where ever that is - want to try and get it as fast as possile :dunno: where as when there are ~100+ users on it will slow it down somewhat which is just what Im trying to avoid
