What do yous think about this Starsign stuff?

I know the whole premise of it is bogey but when I read the general character traits of my own sign (Taurus) it hits the nail on the head dead on.

Admitidly I see some signs that are similar where I think that could possibly be me but there are others with traits that are no way in hell like me.

Anyway heres a site that has the character traits on it,(first one that came up on google) http://www.annabelburton.com/sun_signs.html

Oddly enough, that nails me on the head a lot... Even with the love part.... lol I'm an Aries by the way...

It does describe me in some respects, but not in others (for a Libran, I am not indecisive at all :p ). However, I was impressed once when I checked my ascendant as well... :)

Not sure I believe in star signs affecting your personality ( I think people can be divided into however many categories but not with any sort of accuracy). Once the ascendants etc are inlcuded it does get a bit more targetted but still dont think it is accurate enough.

One thing that impressed me though was the accuracy of the "eneagram". Did this on a weekend retreat once (curiosity got the better of me) and it was pretty indepth and quite spot on.

Now, most likely this is because personality traits tend to get groups together , you dont get too many impulsive hesitants really. And I think a fair bit more study on my part would be required to understand it fully but it was still weird how my answers to questions still pegged me even when I tried to trick it on a few.

This was the technique used by the renowned 1940s American circus impresario and skilled psychological manipulator, P T Barnum. The eminent psychologist, B R Forer conducted a series of tests to investigate what he termed the 'Barnum effect', and concluded that 'people tend to accept vague and general personality descriptions as uniquely applicable to themselves without realising that the same description could be applied to just about anyone.'

Handing out the same personality description to each of his students, Forer asked them to mark the accuracy of the description in relation to their character on a scale of 0 to 5, with 5 signifying an excellent assessment. The students' evaluation averaged at 4.26. The same test carried out today, still produces an average mark of 4.2.

    Case closed.

    My previous point proven exactly.
Go to the link from the first post in this thread.

Close your eyes and click on a random starsign link.
Believe it to be your own star sign, and you will feel affinity with it. Load of bollocks.
Stuff like "You're an extrovert with a shy side" etc.
Virgo, you may be shy, introverted, and self-conscious on the surface, but when love comes your way, you relax and blossom!

    My arse.
I'm not Virgo, by the way. But the point in the same.

Most of the time when I read my horoscope in the newspaper it's completely inaccurate and off the wall.

But I've had times where I'd just click with certain people and they'd usualy turn out to be the same sign as me.
    It happens freakishly often.

I dunno, some of the descriptions are pretty definite.

Some of them I could read a million times and wouldn't feel any sort of affinity with. For example,
"The Aries personality is fiery and self-expressive with an urge to act NOW! This is NOT a patient sign, everything is done on impulse, and with great urgency."

Now I dont know a lot of peoples starsigns but I know one of my mates is an Aries and that's exactly what he's like. In fact Ive told this guy severel times over the years to calm down and try to have a bit of patience. (****er jumps ques in everything)

Ive gone through all the descriptions and there's about 4 signs where Id say they where no way like me. Has anyone read their sign and thinks it's dead wrong?

    yep, me = scorpio

The intensity and passion generated by Scorpio makes them an unforgettable partner
They have very intense personalities with hidden depths.

I dont have an intense personality. :)

ive always thought of them as a chancers quest to fool you..

what i mean is..if someone predicts something, say for Aries... there is bound to be a good few hundred aries in the whole of ireland/county that it will apply too

loads of times has my sign been predicted with a whole load of s h i t e that means absolutely nothing..

although sometimes it picks up on something.... i just imagine a load of chinese in theses sweatshop style offices reaming out these predictions...

    lol :)

Well, I cannot say that I believe in starsigns &c, because it makes no logical sense to me, and certainly I do not believe for a second that horoscopes really predict the future. Even when they try to predict mood, with me they are never, ever right :p ....
However, I am a little intrigued about personality descriptions... my sister and I were born on the same month, less than a year apart. She was born later than she was expected, I was born a couple of weeks in advance. She ought to have been a Libran, I ought to have been Scorpio, but we seem to fit our signs a lot better this way... :) She certainly has a strong, rather intense personality, and is not afraid of asserting herself, while I am the diplomatic one who hates confrontation and can never bring herself to act angry....
