    Howdy,
I want to upgrade my hard drive. I have linux and windows installed on the current one and heres what i want to do. Install a newer distro of linux on the new hard drive then transfer the windows partition to new hard drive. I know this is fairly straightforward for just a windows drive, does linux being present complicate things. I've never upgraded before so am not sure what to do. I could add the new hard drive as a slave but the reason i'm upgrading is because i think the old drive is on its way out. Thanks for any tips.

    I don't think so! shouldn't be a problem

install linux, resize partition, and restore the image of windows to that partition, then configure linuxs' boot loader(don't remember it's name), that's it!

thanks. ok , but would it be possible to map old windows partition to new drive first and then if all goes well install linux and use the LILO yolk to dual boot. Reason being I would like to get windows and all my data up and running before installing linux.
Also some people were saying there might be an issue with swap file on windows, though i searched my disk and couldn't find one. This is what I'm planning on following for instruction http://www.pcmech.com/show/harddrive/52/ , seems to be ok but first time doing this so I guess I'll learn the hard way if owt goes wrong.
