BIOS problem help required

    Last night when I went to boot my machine it came up with something about a bad CMOS checksum??? I had to go into the BIOS and reconfigure it basically and since then everything is ok....

    Another thing I noticed since then is that on power-on there are three ticks at about second intervals which then stop....now this may have been there before but I became super-paranoid after last nights problem....

    Any ideas on what could have caused this? Hardware failure?


    Spec:
    Asus K8V, Athlon 64 3200+, 512MB Mushkin 3200, Maxtor 120GB SATA, NEC 2500A DVD-RW, Nvidia FX5700 128MB

    Turning off the computer without shuting down can cause some motherboards to revert the FSB & some other setting back to factory default. This is what causes the Checksum error, EPOX MB's do this alot. ASUS not to sure, Can also be caused by overclocking then shuting off.

    I always shut the pc down correctly....the only thing I have done overclocking wise is to increase the voltage to the RAM as pifast and prime95 would have errors if it was left at standard....it's been running at this for a couple of months without any problems....
