Has any one seen/got GPS software which you can supply your own maps to?

Basicly I want to be able to add my own maps (obviously i would ahve to supply scale and reference point information about the amp) and then see my position plotted etc.

I have Autoroute 04/Mappoint 04 but the Irish maps are rubish....

Well, along the same lines, can anyone recommend (ideally cheap) GPS Mapping software for Ireland?

BTW, this software appears to do what you want:

They really intend you to buy Digital maps however...

It's been a while since I've done anything in this sphere, but maybe you should look into MapInfo, ArcInfo and see if Blue Marble Geographics have come up with anything useful since (oh dear) 1997...

When I did this stuff (as a final year project for my degree, back in the dawn of time... all I really need to say is "Visual Basic 4", right?) I seem to remember that the maps we had were from Bartholomew (on CD, natch), if that helps... chances are the OSI do them too.

    Hope this helps...

Memmory-Map looks good but I have to figure out how to tell it the area the map covers... Scale was easy....

Map Info looks good but they are a pin in the arse to get naything out of they promised us a trial copy months ago...

I'm afraid it's been a while (as I said) since I did any of this stuff; I was using MapInfo 4.0, they seem to be at 7.5 now (yikes!)

Maybe Blue Marble Geographics' ( http://www.bluemarblegeo.com ) Geographic Tracker or something similar will do? Depending on what you want this for, MapInfo may be using a nuke to crack a walnut - it certainly was for the stuff I was doing (vehicle tracking)...
