A friend of mine has just ordered Eircom broadband and has been told that there will probably be a 4-6 week delay. So much for their surf free this summer offer!

nothing new there, when dad orderd dsl for his BUSINESS (yes caps, youd think they would priorities businesses but they dont!) it was 2nd of feb back when the business starter pack first came out, we didnt recieave our modem/router and installation istructions untill mid march.

I remember it was the same with ISDN when eircom were flaunting the "Hi-Speed" line service all over the radio and all it took around 7 weeks to come aswell.

hopefully when eircom is sold to the highest bidder they will get that company in shape and not give us an repete of the velencia consortium

Businesses spend money on dialup internt during the day, when the rates are highest - providing broadband for businesses will probably hurt eircoms income more than it helps.

Huh? eircom was sold to the highest bidder - that how valentia got it in the first place. And the "shape" that the highest bidder wants from eircom is whatever allows them to suck the maximum amount of cash out of the company in the shortest possible time. "highest bidders" don't usually have the long term best interests of the company, or the customer, at heart.

According to an article in the Irish independent (around the start of last month) eircom group was to be sold off...?
