Problem with date and time

I've been using this system for a while now and the time has always been wrong. I'd turn off the machine and the next day the time would be reset to january 1st 2001 or december 31st 2001. However if i restart the machine after reseting the time it works fine. I've replaced the battery just in case. The strange thing is that the BIOS time is reset too. I've changed the jumper positions too but alas.

I'm running an abit kd7 mobo with windows XP.

Also should the num lock light on the keyboard still be on even after i shut down? I dont think it should but a mate said its just what windows does.

    Cheers guys

    Daz

Sounds like a BIOS/motherboard problem. I'd contact the supplier about it.

have you checked the bios battery not lightly for a new board but its worth a try. do you have to os on the machine that can also cause time related problems.
