Friend of mine is interested in buying a fairly low price all in one scanner printer type thing - I have never paid any attention to reviews or recommendations on these as they have never interested me so I was wondering if anyone on here has any experience of using them or can make any recommendations?

    Thanks in advance.

I'd recommend a HP if your friend ain't quite tech savy. I've found the Epsons and
Cannons user interface to go into more detail than necessary a lot of the time, which
often confused people. Thats not to sat thay aren't good products, they are. But so
is HP, and with a simple enough interface you can't go far wrong.

sorry i can't be much help with modles or anything. i know my dad has one of these,
great printer, great scanner, rubbish software. for the home user anyway.

I'd definetly go with Epson - I have a seperate Epson scanner (Epson Perfection 1670) and printer (Epson C82), which are both great, but I do use an Epson all-in-one from time to time. Very nice printing, scanner is ok, I don't think it's as good as a stand0alone though. I find the software to be really good too - it can be a bit detailed, but there are "default settings", which you won't really have to mess around with, unless you want to, in which case you'll know what they are. I think the Epsons are a little more expensive than the rest though. Just stay away from Compustore. *Shudder*.
