I want to buy a case that i would use as a server, I want to fill it with drives, I came down to 2 cases Lian-Li PC-61 and Chieftec DX-01BD

and I can't decide between them!

Chieftec - has a door which is nice! and is beautiful, it has 2 trays to accomodate 6 drives but only one of the trays has a fan holder! which means only 3 drives will be cooled if I won't find an extra fan holder somewhere, and chieftec doesn't sell them! all in all you can install 10 drives in it, it comes with PSU! but will that psu be able to power 10 drives and have enough molex connectors? dunno

Lian-Li - is smaller, not so beautiful, has no door, has one tray to accomodate 5 drives which are cooled with 2 fans, it's smaller BUT! you can install 12 drives in it, doesn't come with a psu which = extra money

so, I can't decide which to go with! damn this decisions!

i dont think you can put 12 drives in a lian li pc61 mate, mayeb you want a lian li pc71?

And if you think the chieftec is nicer than a lian li :o but everyones different, you know u can get a full tower chieftec, will hold as many drives as you like, massive tho

I think I can, 5 in the cage, 3 in the 3.5" "external", 4 in the 5.25 bay

The Chieftec PSU isint the best. Mine went on me after about a year with no warning or reason. Very annoying. Besides that my Chieftec case is being quite fantastic. Also you can easily fit enough extra fans in the Chieftec cases to take care of any cooling. You can also get one of the hard drive cooling kits if you are in anyway scard of overheating.

I have the Chieftec and it's solid as a rock. Hard as nails, nicely made on the inside and out (no so much as a hit on breakage yet, and fairly scratch resistant) looks alright, lots of room for cooling with 4 fan holders (if you want to cool the 3 HDs in the top bay just buy a 3.5" cooler) and lots of upgrade space.

I've never had any problems with the "Cheiftec Heavy Duty 360W PSU" that came with mine, it gives substantially better performace than a friends "550W" Qtec and will do fine for most setups.

Never tried the LianLi one, but the Cheiftec comes as recommended.

Civ: You run 2hds an xp1900 and a gf4. not exactly power demanding...... this guy is talking about running 10+ hds. i dont think a 380w psu will handle that. (so what, my 550w qtec is a POS but it cost £25)

i'd get the zorro case looks classy and can hold 6 hd,and 4 5.1/2

(if you want to cool the 3 HDs in the top bay just buy a 3.5" cooler)

What are you talking about here?

the things that attach from below? I don't think they will fit! those 3 drives will be too close to each other

Yuo can always just do a small modding job on the cage. Not too hard to mod it to fit a fan in. Providing you dont want to have a floppy drive. Enough room in the cages anyway.
