Dublin recycling & new bin charges

    Im in Dublin 20, palmerstown and i have to say.. even though the new bin charges mean its MORE expensive to put out a bin as you pay by volume, its only more expensive if you take into account the volume BEFORE it came out.

    For instance we used to have a black wheelie bin every single week to go out. Now we recycle as much as we can and we only seem to use the black bin every few weeks but we have the green recycling bin every week plus a bag full of glass for the bring ctr.

    So on an environmental front the new high bin charges are good :D

    To reduce your waste further, get a biomass (composting) bin and place it in your garden (provided you not in an apartment)
    Can be got from local concil or garden center.

    p.s. my local recycling center(collins ave, D.9) is now taking grass clipping/hedge cutting and engine/cooking oil - They seems to be added to the list of things that can be recycled.

    what is the story with raheny, im sure the last time my dad went up to get of rid of green waste there it would't except it...

    gotta load of turf to get rid of, we dug up half the garden so we can park an extra car for grown up siblings... there's irony in there somewhere

    or perhaps im wrong can't confirm it on dublinwaste.ie (damn that annoying ad...:)collins avenue ain't that far though

    I didnt know of one in Raheny but the one in Coolock on Oscar traynor Road is open again.
