is it because of the ram? I've got 133mhz SDRAM in there, should I install 266MHz DDR? will that push it to the max speed?(1650mhz)

Sounds more like you've got your FSB running at 100MHz when it should be set to 133.

    If you do the math...
    100fsb x 12.5multi = 1250MHz
Which at a guess is your current fsb/multiplyer.

    Changing the FSB to 133:
    133fsb x 12.5multi = 1662MHz
Which is what you want really.

Have a look at the manual for your motherboard, it'll tell you exactly how to change from 100 to 133 (assuming it's capable of doing so).
It'll probably boil down to either an option in the BIOS or moving a jumper on the motherboard.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Yeah SantaHoe is right. Most likely just a BIOS setting unless your mobo is several years old

Thanks! damn i will never learn this damn FSB, memory dependance stuff

I just checked in the bios, and the frequency is locked in CPU PnP Setup :dunno: I can't change anything!

there are no explanations in the manual of how to change the frequency on the mobo

If its an old board, the CPU speed may be determined by jumpers on the board, not in the BIOS. To make my CPU go full throttle on my old KT133, I had to change jumpers, and add extra cooling to the chipset to make it stable.

My AOpen AK77-NX8 /w KT400A chipset only runs at 129FSB, so I had to up the multiplier to make it go 1.61 ghz, although it should be running @ 1667mhz :(
