Is it possible to get from ballinteer in to the city centre using public transport by 7am? I have to move house and I start work at this time every morning. There is a 48a at 6.35. How long would it take in almost no traffic?

It would be pushing it. How about the number 44/C (0630 from Enniskerry Village) and 16 (0620) and 16A (0630)?

I think Luas will start at 5am.

    There is also a 14A at 0650.

It you need to get elsewhere than the city centre there are buses like the 17 and 75.

The 48A should take around half an hour at that time. Where in the city centre are you talking about exactly?

If your office isn't far from Stephen's Green you should be able to make it in time ~ five mins late.

The 44s at that time appear only to go as far as Eglinton Road.

    Hi,

I live in Ballinteer, and at one stage had to get into town before 7am every Monday to Friday for about a year.

    This is what I found:

The 06.35 48A is very heavily used, and as a result progress is slow (although a lot quicker than at other times of the day). By 7am it is usually at Harcourt Street, so no good if you need to be in an office in town by 7am sharp.

The 06.20 on route 16 is a much better bet - it passes Camden Street at about 06.42, and hits O'Connell Bridge at about 06.50.

If you live in the eastern side of Ballinteer, and have too far to walk to the 16, there is an early 75 heading to Tallaght that passes through Ballinteer at about 06.15, and will get you to Rathfarnham in time to connect with the early 16 (and maybe even the 06.20 15C if you are lucky).

There is also an untimetabled "ghost" 16A from the Bottle Tower at 06.20 which sometimes will take people, and sometimes just runs the route empty without stopping.
